I want to make twice baked potatoes. For that I have to put it in the oven for about an hour and also cook the bacon

Anyways, my damn oven has 2 options - bake and broil. When I put it in bake, I can control the temperature but the timer is always 10 minutes no matter what. When I go into broil, I can sorta control the timer but I've been told broil is only good for meat. Can you use broil for potatoes/bacon?

It's a whirlpool oven BTW

All electric I assume? If so broil uses only the top element and bake the lower. Possibly one uses combo. Broil is an always on setting. The ten minutes may be just a warm up time to reach temp. As long as the oven heats up you can cook anything in it!

What?? You clearly don't know what you are doing. You can set the oven timer for any length of time.

And the broiler is used for MANY things...but it's a very fast browning...so it doesn't "bake"....it just quickly browns. Lots of different things require a broiler....but your potatoes need to be "baked".
