I started Chantix today and my quit smoking date is next Friday. Doctor says quit smoking or be in the leg imobilizer and on crutches for life, so time to quit smoking.

It'll be interesting to see how my cooking changes, once I'm able to fully enjoy all the flavors of food again.
Best of luck to you!

I wish all trying to quit the best.

From personal experience I'm firmly convinced it's mostly a mental thing. When you're truly convinced in your mind that you want to quit, although you'll still suffer the physical withdrawal, I believe a true mental desire will make it all that much easier to overcome the habit.

Now you sound like my hubby! Ha! Everything he thinks about is in dollars and cents!! His main reason for quitting was of the cost, or so he says. I think he was getting very concerned about hiis health and then to pay for cigarettes that would only make his helath worse--he's a real "common-sense" kinda guy! He also said quitting is basically a mental thing. I have stopped before for 5 years but that was when I decided to have my kids--a good reason and it made it pretty easy. Then, for some stupid reason I started again! Now I'm back to square one! UGH!

Molochai, everyone that I have talked to swears by Chantix - some of them just plain swear! You will do great; I would bet on it. My son was a heavy smoker and after Chantix, it has been 3 months with no urges at all.

Me? I quit 30 years ago from a 2+ pack a day habit and still love to smell them. But, being free of my inhaler (me too, crazyworld!) there is nothing that would tempt me to go back. You will feel soooo good physically and mentally. It is so liberating to quit.

For dinner tonight, it HAS to be cyn's tilapia with all of those wonderful flavors. Cannot wait to serve it to the family. Thanks, cyn! (Yeah, I have 2 books on the go right now myself, cyn. I spend more time here than doing all of the things I SHOULD be doing.)

Would a pirate eat Tilapia with soy sauce, grated ginger, sesame oil, etc. or does he just eat an octopus raw, burdell?
