I figured a few of you would like to see what is going on over here at the beach right now. The low pressure system that is spinning just a bit offshore is generating some large swells, along with a bit of wind. The tides have been higher then normal, and I suspect we will have some erosion issues to deal with before everything is done.

Incredible pictures. I hope those are not the stairs to your house in New Smyrna.

Oh my, the ocean looks a bit wild today. We saw on the weather channel that you have waves heading your way. It seemed that the further south, the luckier you would be. Cape Hatteras had 18-24 foot waves last night. Pretty big waves!

Thanks everyone. The pictures are from New Smyrna Beach, and luckily those steps are not to my home.

Fortunately, I know better then to build my home on a shifting sand bar. They call the beach a barrier island for a reason.

Good for you!

Unfortunately, that low sitting off the coast will bring high winds but very little moisture, so it is not helping the fire situation in Florida.

Here's a great satellite picture of the low and also the smoke from the fires.
