I live in Maryland and am looking to move to Florida in the next 6 months. I'm retired (I'm only 55) but would need to work at least part time. I was thinking about a mobile home park in the Tampa area. The catch is I have a cat and a large dog (a very gentle Dobie). Any suggestions or ideas?

I really would suggest not living in a mobile home here in Florida, just because of the hurricane/tornado threat. You can get deals on townhomes and single family homes, if you look around. Spend at least 6 months renting so you can get to know the area better also.

I really don't want to deal with the upkeep of a home that's why I was thinking about a MH park where they take care of the outside maintenance.

What about a maintenance free villa?

Many of the 55 and up communities handle all exterior maintenance, even if you are in a single family home. All of the ones I know of allow two or three pets.

There are a lot of gated communities that include exterior maintenance in their HOA fees.

Are you moving by yourself? Any school age kids?

Bahia Vista Estates
Beach Manor Villas
Beach Manor Villas South
Camelot East
Camelot Lakes

I started posting this list but it's gonna take me a while and I have to run out. I have a huge list of 55+ communities on my website. I there is also a place on the web somewhere that lists them all in certain counties. There's a lot of maintenance free communities as well in the area. When I get back in I'll post a few. Were you only looking in Tampa? Did you only want a mobile or would a condo, or villa work?

Yes I'm moving alone...just me, the cat and dog. I was considering anywhere between Sarasota and Tampa. But it sounds like there might not be much work in Tampa. Don't really need a "real job". I've been working several customer service, event type jobs here in Baltimore. Anyone know how that market is on the gulf side? If not good what area would be best for work? Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and help!

I've forgotten to mention that my dog weights about 70lbs. and although several places accept pets they have weight restrictions.
