Does anyone know the area name -"Placid Lakes", located north of Miami/Ft Lauderdale area. At least that is what an advertisement for sale of land says. Do you think its a good area to purchase land and build? Is it a developed area, near to school districts. Land is being sold by Placid Lakes Development Corp Inc-Harry Martinez. I dont live that side and have never seen the land. Love some advise. Thanks

I have no idea but be very very cautious buying any of that kind of stuff without really taking a look at it. I live here and can take you on a drive of failed projects with big billboards and nice pictures with weeds growing everywhere and half completed houses people have lost hundreds of thousands on. There is one near me. It used to be a beautiful nursery. I knew the owners who sold the property for several million and the builder started building houses from $600,000 to over a million. You should see it now. There are gates you drive through and there is a house here and there. It is really bizarre. A million dollar house sitting in the middle of what what looks like a dump site. I can't think of the correct name of the place but I will post a story on it a little later. It is really something to see. I have several around my house. Projects that just ended. Bare concrete and still building materials piled on the property and no work have been done for a year. There is even a place now going into bankruptcy by Donald Trump on the beach. The place is never going to open and people are out millions. In South Florida you have to be very careful with any new developments right now.
Thank You very much mango23. I live in Jamaica, and saw this advertisement on sale of land in our newspaper. Your help is truly appreciated. Have to be careful with the funds these days
I agree about Lake Placid...small town but close enough to Sebring and Avon Park (which are also relatively small towns) for all amenities. I just drove through there not long ago, but of course have no idea where this property for sale is located. It's kinda "out in the country" type atmosphere rather than the big city hustle and bustle.
International Prefferd Enterprises , Placid Lakes Developement and Leisur Lakes Development are legitamate companies, they cater to people away from the USA answell as US customers. They sell homesites in Central Florida. The area is trranquil, it has a small town feeling but all the ameneties are there. Take a look at www.highlandscounty.com it should give you more info on the area.
The area that youa are concerned about are small town type of place. The company that is promoting it is legitimate. They cater to foriegners aswell as locals. I bought from them some time ago and my experience was great.
I am a snowbird who lives in Placid Lakes. It is a small town however there is Sebring 15 miles away that has most everything. Ther is much property for sale including new homes built in 2006 never lived in. I just passed a home this morning in great shape with a pool the back yard next to the golf course. Asking price of $115,000. Some great places in this small town.
