Got my bill for my home today and it looks pretty good.
Surpassingly the millage has gone down quite a bit over the years in Broward. The millage in (2000) was 25.2650 today (2007) it's 19.8246.

macguy,
I just got my tax bill for Lake county. The total millage there was 15.23
We have some "non-ad valorem" taxes that added $371 to the total.

I'm used to NY taxes, so this Florida tax thing is all new to me. It is nice getting a tax bill about 1/3 of what I am used to. Nice just getting one bill.

Also, I'm used to paying my school taxes in November and the rest of my taxes in January....puts a crimp on holiday spending. Then of course we have state tax, but that's another story.

At least the Florida tax gives you a 4% discount if you pay this month, losing 1% discount per month until the final due date of 3/31......gives you options...here in NY, you have 30 days or the chopping block.

Frank D.

I can't wait to put my check in the mail and be done with it. This may be the last time I pay on this property anyway if things go as planed.

I don't blame you, sending over 10,000.00 to the toilet is something I do not appreciate. Even angrier since 7 years ago it was 1500. I may be out of here as well. It's not worth wasting precious time on a lost cause. Running a business with all those expenses is a huge disadvantage too.

Ditto's to you all. Mailed mine today. They were actually lower than expected, not by much but lower. With a lot of luck maybe next year they will be a few hundred lower
