Hello,

Can you Floridians recommend some good/nice Daytona areas to check out? Where are the good areas around Daytona? Also, any info on what the taxes are like there?

Thanks!

If you have a family, check out Port Orange and Ormand. Ponce Inlet is nice if you are retired and like condos. Other than those possibilities, stay away from Daytona.

Default ..

I second that definitely.....Stay away from Daytona itself....Check out Ormand, Spruce Creek (If you got a little bit of money), Port Orange. Might want to try a little bit north too, like St. Augustine.....Stay away from Palm Coast (real estate value issues).

Default palm cost

Stay away from Palm Coast (real estate value issues)

what does that mean real estate value?
Is the area lowering it's prices more then other areas of florida? are there problems there?

There's nothing inherently wrong with the Palm Coast area. There just isn't any industry or jobs there to sustain non-retired, yuppie-type people.

Like other areas in other cities, Daytona is like a layered cake, you have the best, you have the worst, and something in the middle. It would be a mistake to generalize and say that Ormond, or Port Orange are great, and Daytona is bad, as this is not true.
If you are thinking of moving to the area and/or buying the property here, you could benefit from working with a professional, who can evaluate your situation based on your expectations, financial situation, etc. For example, if you have school-age kids, one side of Dunlawton would be way more preferrable than the other, and they are both in Port Orange.
There are too many factors and parameters involved. The format of this forum does not work well for you.
Pretty much same with Palm Coast. It all depends on your situation. It maybe the best investment, and it may be the worst investment. It is not the Palm Coast, it is what you want, and how it could be achieved. In every place at all times there are people who make money (or bought property and are happy), and those who lost their shirt and is far from being happy. As a place, this is a nice growing city, hopefully will become more of a city with Town Center development (and another one even larger on the drawing board). Again, it maybe for you, maybe not, it all depends.
Good luck
