Oh how I'd love to live in the Keys if only there was a large university and super cops to keep it safe! I can dream, can't I? =D Thanks for all the tips. Keep 'em coming! I want to get my degree (my second life goal) and stay in one community for-ever....then visit all other Florida cities for 'vacation'.

Bigh -- checked out the Keys for five minutes; rents are from $2000 to 7400 a month...wayyyyy out of my budget; thanks for sharing the tip though!

Although I like the gulf more then the ocean side my fav town would be Ft Lauderdale.

I like many of the small beach towns along the gulf but to pick just one Ft Lauderdale would be my choice.

Others mentioned two really good ones in Sarasota and St Augustine.

St Augustine. It's a lovely little city with great beaches. Flagler College is there.

Gainesville is nice but definitely a University town. So has the usual ups and downs. One perk is being an hour from either coast. So a super easy trip to the beaches on weekends or long week days.

Thanks...I LOVE LOVE LOVE St. Augustine but I need a college that has majors in nursing and engineering....Flagler doesn't do either and UNF (a beautiful campus, my oldest attended) is 40 minutes away....but keep those ideas comin! Maybe I'll move to St. A when I get my degree =D
