My husband and I are looking to move to Florida but are overwhelmed about where to even start. There are certain criteria we are looking for. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
West Coast
decent paying jobs
low housing
low crime
organic food perhaps?
Thank you so much!

i guess it depends on what you consider decent pay, decent housing etc etc. My husband makes close to 60k a year but in Naples where we live we'd be lower middle class bordering the poverty line . For decent rental anything you're looking at 950+ house rental upwards of $1,200. 15 mins up the road in Estero rental rates drop a good $200 and I've found several short sale two story 4 bedroom homes built less than 5 years ago for $160,000.. So I guess what I'm aying is your info is vague one town varies GREATLY from the next so give more info plz.

Start with where you can find jobs.

Jobs first, housing second-in that order.

Also-look at my video:

All of your criteria except for the organic food options fit most anywhere on the west coast of Florida. This state has lagged behind in terms of supply (and demand) of natural/organic food options. Locally produced items are rarer yet. There's only a handful of Whole Foods Markets in the state, most of which are in South Florida (Miami, Ft Lauderdale, West Palm Beach). That said you might consider Clearwater which is part of the Tampa-St Pete metro area. It has the lower crime, low housing costs, accessibility to the second largest job market in the state and organic/natural foods options at a great independent market called Nature's Food Patch (looks very much like a Whole Foods Market) and is all natural/organic. Also Whole Foods Market is opening a second store in Tampa in the NW side neighborhood of Carrollwood, which is a 30 minute ride from the nice Countryside area of northeast Clearwater. Bear in mind Trader Joes's finally opened a store in Florida this month (in Naples) with more to open across the state over the next couple of years. Clearwater offers their dream demographic and I would wager it's due for a location as well.
