My city (Sarasota) almost looks like it's booming.
Thats great that the economy's booming. Other than the presidental campaign ads the most common tv ad up here seems to be BP tourisim ads. They must be working.

Yep, I got out of there and it's the best thing I ever did.

The cost of living in CO is higher, but the salaries are much higher. 55K average in the state, but the city I'm in the average household is 100K

That's great ! I've heard good things about Colorado. I left for Tennessee about 11 years ago but around 07-08-09 the state became overrun by Floridians and all the jobs disappeared. It was like living in FL without the weather.

Well just go look at the FL CAFRs and it paints an even sicker picture. Of course, Texas CAFR is probably quite substantial. Haven't looked in awhile.

FL honestly doesn't make sense to me. Much like the govt elsewhere, there seems to be a bubble mentality.

Be interesting to see more updates in the charts. In collier co for instance, while all incomes are going down, the incoming goes from 75 to 50,000. The big retired money idea looks to be headed for a change. 2010 trends would be interesting.

Well, My main point is comparing the cost of living and income of both states.

Florida is 38th in income, Texas is 25th.

Florida is 27th in COL, Texas is 4th.

From Wikipedia...

Quote:
Texas has an economy that was the second largest in the nation and the 15th largest in the world based on GDP (nominal) figures. As the largest exporter of goods in the United States, Texas currently grosses more than $100 billion a year in trade with other nations.

TxRyan,
Maybe I missed it, but do you have a ref link for those rankings? Thanks.

Thanks again for posting. Be nice to see both those ratings closer together. If anything, for now COL is still climbing and income is falling all across US. Not a good combination. Surprised D.C. is as low as it is.

This chart is interesting because many of these places house large govt employee populations.
