I live in Destin, Florida and I am at my wits end trying to find a good boarding facility for our dog when we go out of town. I'm willing to travel to Navarre, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, whatever ... just as long as I can find a decent one. The one at our vet's office resembles a pound, and since our dog is a rescue I'd really prefer not to put him back into an environment that looks like a shelter. I've also looked into the Four Paws Pet Salon, which is a kennel that comes up when you google kennels in the Destin area. I went to tour the facility and it was simply disgusting. The dogs were walking around in their own waste, the owner seemed to have an alcohol problem (drinking at 10am? Slurring words?), and the dogs just seemed miserable and uncomfortable. I can't imagine that there aren't any other options.

Any recommendations (or commiserations!) would be appreciated. I'd love to have a pet sitter come in and take care of our dog while we're gone, but my husband isn't comfortable with the idea.
