I've always heard of snoods just for hair, too. The new "snood" looks kind of funny to me. I suppose some might be made to look nice though, if they weren't too Grim Reaperish. But at this point in time I can't see myself running out and buying one.
Okay, this must have been in my subconscious all night, because I woke up and the word "cowl" popped up in my head out of nowhere. That's what those new "snoods" really are, "cowls". They aren't a new fashion item at all.

That's been bugging me ever since yesterday too! Knew they had their own proper name.
I have an acrylic one that I bought back in the earlier-90's, believe it or not. But I don't leave it "hanging" like the photos. I drap it over my head, twist, and slip it over again to wrap my neck well as well as cover my head.
