I think for going out at night or a special occasion several of those photos look nice. Most women don't wear eye makeup like that for everyday.
Also, for photos, they apply makeup heavier because it does not show up as well on camera as it does in person. If you did those looks in real life, you'd take it down a few notches but still get the same dramatic effect.
I wear my eye makeup like that sometimes, but I'm a young college girl with alternative fashion senses and I can get away with it. I think heavy, dramatic eye make-up can be gorgeous, as long as everything else is light.

Those pictures are to photo shopped to show a good example of what you want. You really can't appreciate a face that has been photo shopped with makeup on it... you just can't. It has nothing to do with how good the picture or the make up is, photo shop drastically changes the way it looks particularly when the skin is what has been done. It is air brushed and the lighting has been altered.
The women are beautiful. But for me, the makeup is too heavy for everyday use even though it's professionally done. I have noticed a lot of Hollywood types wearing much heavier eye makeup lately so I guess it's somewhat in fashion. I think a dark-haired woman can pull it off and look lovely, but it's just way too much for my taste.
I agree with the posters who say this is too much makeup or it is outdated....for US tastes anyway (can't comment on what is popular/accepted in other cultures).
There are plenty of ways to do an evening look (smokey eye etc) without looking like you raided the makeup counter to do it. Looks clownish to me. When I see women overdoing the makeup - I tend to think it looks trashy. But that's me.
