I have not bought anything but Landsend swimsuits for years, since I need long torso sizes, and they have a good variety. I have not bought the type you are asking about, but you should try it and if you don't like it you can always return it.
If you're at all hard to fit, size-wise, as I am, it's impossible to find anything that fits at the mall, so I'm a Landsend believer.

I love the real time mannequin that Lands End has. You can customize it with your measurements, height, weight, even hair color and style- and try the clothes on! Cool.

If you get a high spandex contect suit that really holds you in - you need to get it in the correct size -that way the fat will not bulge out - the heck with it - just exercise and there will be no fat to bulge - I started exercising in February and am so much firmer now -
