Guess it depends on if you want a 'lotion' soap, a 'perfum-y' type of soap, or just a soap that does the job.
Ivory bar soap has been my #1 favourite all my life and always will be. Though occaisionally I'll buy generic 'Dove' for the change of pace once in a great while.

I just bought some Dial Clean and Soft White Tea and Vitamin E glycerin soap. Usually I use the "hippy" stuff... like Dr. Bronner's or handmade soaps... but I think I'm going to keep buying this soap from now on! It's wonderful... smells soooo goood... and leaves our skin feeling soft and smooth, not dry at all. Did I say it smells good? I love the way my husband smells after he showers with it!

Here's a link that hopefully will show a picture of what I'm talking about: http://a1468.g.akamai.net/f/1468/580.../75965/300.jpg

All my dad ever used when he was alive was Ivory... but the smell of Ivory bothers me. On one hand, it smells like my dad so it's partially a good memory thing, but it's not a smell I like, to be honest. My husband says it smells like burnt hair. I'm not sure about that, but I do think the smell of Ivory is odd somehow. It also totally dries my skin out.

It is a good bar soap to do soap carving with your kids, though! And it makes good bar soap boats, too!

I buy Dr. Bronner or handmade soap, scented with essential oils.

To me it doesn't really matter as long as they smell good but since I have exzema...my dermatologist doesn't like for me to use scented soaps...in fact he suggested no soap at all. In any case, I still use soap and it's Dove unscented.

My husband can't live without his Dove soap bar (the regular one).
For my part, I don't use any, I prefer shower gels!
