Why the myth that all good looking men are gay ? (mens, fashion)

Okay (no offense!) but I hear this a LOT from American women in particular and I tried to see if this was true... I travelled the entire world for this

Every single sexy and attractive man I have ever seen was straight
And not just men but a lot of other women have seen this too

And I mean SEXY... HUNKY and masculine

- I went to Europe... straight (btw the way ANY woman here HAS to see Mediterranean men... they are HOT HOT HOT!!!!)

- I went to Asia... straight (my favorite being Japan)

- I went to Latin America... straight (favorite being Brazil for me)

- I went to Russia... straight (loved the Russian men that took care of themselves)

- I went to Africa... straight (favorite being Angola, West Africa )

Sure the HUGE citites tend to have 10 % gay but on average 95 % or so are straight

So if 95 % are heterosexual/straight then since most people are straight doesn't it mean that most attractive people you met have a higher probability of being straight ?

So why the myth ??? Yeah gay dudes have style and fashion sense (and cute ) but most that I have seen just don't have that natural male beauty

So what gives????

hmmmm, I don't think I have ever heard of this "myth."

And I've been around a loog, long time. To my mind, a man isn't really sexy looking unless he, not only looks male, but ACTS male in his relationships with the women around him.

Fairly simple really. With humans, preening gestures are generally seen as the province of the female. Men who appear to spend too much time trying to look good are seen as a step toward the feminine, which is associated with gay.

Consider, what defines the general stereotype of a gay man? Basically an exaggerated woman's personality in a "little to clean and good looking" male body. (See Will and Grace character, "Jack", right?).

The other stereotype of course is the bodybuilder. Recall a Saturday Night Live skit where two bodybuilders were on the beach and the hot female guest walked up and made a pass at one of the men. He rebuffed her and then looked lovingly at the other bodybuilder and said, "Hey wanna go for a ride in my Corvette?"...

(Of course the other reality I've seen in bodybuilders is that exogenous steroids turn them into dogs. Anything female that moves might just be good enough at times. Other times they seem to want women that are as alpha as they want to be and nothing less. Sort of the Hollywood complex.)

In any event, the male stereotype dictates a certain amount of ruggedness if not downright slovenlyness, LOL! "Yeah, I work in the garage on my car, the little lady takes care of the house." LOL!

So anything that moves toward "fashion" or "style" considerations beyond what is typical for that socio-economic class is generally perceived as suspect for being gay.

I think it was started by insecure, lazy and just plain homely straight men.

hypermasculine men and ugly men are the ones who usually instigate the idea and some females buy into it and perpetuate it themselves. usually they are the most oppressed themselves. you have to be somewhat of an insecure female to have a problem with "pretty" looking men.
