But here's one unique thing about me (or at least I think it's unique; that's what I'm trying to find out): I hate clothes. Well, I don't hate wearing them (LOL!), but I hate having to buy them. I don't give a flying fig about my wardrobe, and buying clothes is about as fun to me as buying tires for my car.

I know women who'd trade their first born for a closet full of designer shoes. And I know women who would forego paying their heating bill if it meant less money for new clothes that month.

I've known women over the years who can literally lower their blood pressure just by buying a new Coach purse. And I know one woman who can go two months before wearing the same outfit twice.

And I just cannot relate. I couldn't care less about my wardrobe, and I get absolutely nothing out of purses (I don't carry one), jewelry (I own one pair of earrings that I got as a gift) a closet full of shoes (I own 3 pair), or designer jeans.

I don't think anybody would describe me as a slob, but I'm certainly not "put together" like some of the women I know. My clothes match, but that's because I only wear two colors: black and white (LOL!). I simply can't be bothered to color-coordinate my wardrobe, so I make it easy by wearing only two colors.

Are there any other girlie type women like me who feel as I do about clothes?
What is this, a preview of the next What Not To Wear?

I'm not into shopping for clothes either. I dress in classic lines that are easy to put together. Keep it simple.

I would rather shop for home decor and landscaping items. Or be outside doing some physical activity.

However, I would consider myself very feminine since I love to fuss with my hair, get a manicure/pedicure or microdermabrasion/facial.

I like jewelry and love songs and cute little animals, but I can't get into clothes, either. Sometimes I see things that are pretty but I don't have any occasion to wear anything like that, so I wouldn't buy them. The clothes I wear are very boring and predictable, and warm since I'm always freezing. I don't have that natural ability to put together interesting outfits that would be cool and not weird. I don't know how to layer. I don't know what colors go with what, besides basic matching. I can't do a print with another print or put colorful shoes with a neutral outfit. I think if I did people would be laughing at me!

Nope, you are not alone. You have so much better things to do with your time than thinking about/shopping/planning/caring for/ etc. rags. And that's what they are going to be one day...rags.

You are a true woman!

You are not alone !

I am 42 , very feminine style wise and loathe shopping. Really, really loathe it. I would actually rather go to the dentist. Really.

The internet has been wonderful for me as I now rarely ever step inside a store now.

I also hate fashion. I am not trendy, never was and never wanted to be. I like classic, well cut clothes which will last and to me are timeless.

So I tend to buy more expensive clothes, and hope they last better. My wardrobe consists mostly of long skirts, blazers and tailored blouses .

I cannot comprehend the paroxysms of ecstasy some women go into after buying a new handbag or new shoes. Shopping is one supposed to be the number one hobby in Western Nations and I remain baffled.

I much prefer to go to the theatre, cinema, concerts or art galleries, travel or just about anything which is not shopping in fact !

Life's too short IMO to spend it in stores spending ridiculous amounts of money for something which will be out of fashion next week.

I also prefer to have my own individual style than to copy what fashion magazines deemed to be " in" this month ( and "out" the next) .

To the OP you are not alone. I hate shopping for clothes and I don't give a fig about fashion. I don't have any dress shoes(I have sneakers, boots, and flip flops) and I only have one purse. I am not a girly girl though. I like to have my hair and nails done(I do them) and I like to be neat and clean. Oh yeah and I want to smell good. Other than that fashion and style just isn't a part of my life. I do love bright colored shirts though. Especially in the summer. Bring on the yellow.

I would much rather be working outside on the farm. I would get more excited over a new shovel or a tool than any clothing or home decor items which just clutter up your house and collect dust, lol.

Some women just aren't that into clothes and/or dont like shopping for them. I'm not one of them, but I have known some. I like new clothes, not for the "fashion" of it, but simply I get tired of wearing the same clothes. Like the change.

I LOVE clothes, but I didn't always. I am a 50 something mother of 7 and finally I am down to just 2 kids at home. For the first time in 30 years I can start to think a little more about myself. In the last few months I have had my hair cut and highlighted, lost weight, started an exercise program and bought a bunch of new clothes. It's so much fun to think about myself! Of course I still have a number of years to go before both of these last two girls are done with college, (6yrs actually) so I can't get too selfish yet. I always spent all the money on the kids and if I needed anything I went to Goodwill. I'll be 60 in the not too distant future and I want at least 10 years of looking good before I die!
