Womens clothes are too expensive! Some stores I don't bother buying anything new, like The Limited, Ann Taylor, and Talbots - they're all so expensive! A jacket for a suit at the Limited is $138, a skirt suit at Ann Taylor is in the $300 range! Wacaol bras $48, panties $25, Victorias Secret - lots of overpriced stuff!

How do you women cope with such expensive stuff? Do you often bankrupt yourself or run high credit card balances? Or just have small collection of stuff?

I totalled my skirt suit collection in my TX apt, over $8900 worth! I still have lots more in Chicago!

I live by the phrase :

"never pay full retail"

(unless you really love it! LOL )

I just budget in the stuff thats worth it and cut corners elsewhere.
I think running up a card for clothing you cant pay off in 30-90 days is the worst thing to do.

I also like to look on overstock.com, bluefly.com, ebay and cheapo stores for knock offs of anything too trendy. I attack the rack at the end of a season for classic pieces. You can find pieces that originally were over 200 dollars marked down to like 50 bucks sometimes or less!

Money is all relative. To some, they are a little pricey.

Why pay full price? Shop off season. I just got some shirts for $3.oo on the clearance rack. I look at clothing like I look at groceries, WHY pay full price?? There are always coupons, sales, deals, etc to be had! Paying full price is a huge waste of money IMHO.

Alright, even my four year old knows to go to the CLEARANCE RACK... seriously... she goes right to the RED SIGNS... she knows... I have taught her well. If you don't know to shop sales... that is your own fault.

None of these stores are expensive. They are, however, way more than I'm willing to pay. Go to the Outlets. If you're willing to drive, there's one out in Conroe and occasionally, Katy Mills has some good deals (your profile says you're from Houston). Some stores like White House/Black Market and NY and Company, have VIP/frequent shopper deals. I get VS underwear during their Semi-Annual sales. Last but not least, Ross and Marshalls sometimes has decent brand name clothing, depending on location. There's a great location for those two stores in The Woodlands.

I refuse to buy clothes on credit.

I'm small, and have a hard time finding clothes to fit, appropriate for my age! So, when I do find something I like, the cost isn't my 1st priority! (Of course, I'm not going to bankrupt myself for a blouse!!!)
I do manage to find some nice pieces in places like Ross and Marshalls. You have to have loads of time to shop there, but once in awhile, I'll find some thing I really love for less that $20!!!! (sometimes MUCH less!)
But, I do shop at Ann Taylor and the Loft, since they carry the smaller sizes--our Macy's, Penney's, etc... don't carry anything under a size 6. Frustrating!

You should probably stick to men's clothes for two reasons: (1) they're cheaper than women's clothes; and (2) YOU'RE A MAN!!!!!!!
