I usually like longer/wavy hair in guys, just like yours, but I think you'd look GORGEOUS with short hair. I can already picture you with it.

More than anything you need a quality cut and some good hair product. Once you have that it won't matter if you are short or long as you have the face for both. Right now your hair looks a bit damaged. I would go into someone who can give you a quality cut to get it healthy, some deep conditioning and can show you how to style your hair with some good products. It will make a world of difference for you!

This is such an ignorant statement. He looks like a man the way he is. What is your problem???

My mum says it's so damaged that she'd like to give me a clipper-cut, then I will regrow my hair long.

Your features are good, but the messy hair gets all the attention. Get a good trim and learn how to handle it. You'll be glad you did.

I can't imagine you with a very short cut, but something like the Patrick Dempsey length would work. You don't want a center part because I think the picture looks as if you have a "cow lick" that would work better with an off center comb.
