I saw on Facebook they were selling for 19.99. Probably not the real thing but it looked legit.
I'm looking on facebook marketplace and people are selling used ones for less than 90.00
The description elnina posted reads like they are very comfortable.
I just can't justify over 100.00 for shoes.
I'll keep looking on fb marketplace.
That's the same price I pay for the Altra Lone Peaks I like. I've looked at the Hokas, but haven't had a reason to switch. If the Altras get to be uncomfortable, I'll try the Hokas
You can buy all of these online from REI if you have trouble finding them locally.
"Expensive" is irrelevant vs. cost of foot, leg, and joint issues RE running shoes. The cost of injuries is both tangible and intangible, depending if we can put a dollar value on suffering.
I'm active in local running communities. Hokas are popular. I'm a Brooks man because the brand works for me and others I've tried haven't worked as well. Nothing wrong with others, it's a preference and they have an outlet store here in metro Seattle. They are tossed at about five hundred running miles, or if they feel "blown," or if the tread finally goes. Blown = notably losing their bounce, feels like pounding on my feet and legs. About $125/pair, one of the few costs of running other than various gear that can be bought at Goodwill or gathered from running events. Call it c. $.26/mile in shoe costs. Who cares.
I have never heard one complaint about Hokas. Both my wife and my daughter wear them but I cant bring myself to do the same them because even though I know they are a running sneaker, I associate them with "old" people with foot problems for some reason. Regardless of looks, there are certain brands of footwear that I wont buy.
I've seen some young people with Hokas. It must be a fashion statement, IMO. Myself? They don't look too stylish to me. Can't comment on the comfort since I never tried a pair on. I used to be an Asics guy. They make comfortable running sneakers. Gotta admit. I have turned to wearing Nikes for walking, jogging, etc. They make a damn good sneaker and they are stylish. You don't have to pay over $100 for them either if you catch a sale like I do.
