I just can`t picture myself in mens jeans.....I wear a size 4-6.
I don't know that that would matter? There are a lot of women who wear men's pants because of the sizing. You could even try on some boys/teens sizes if you need them to be smaller.

It does, yes. You're unlikely to find men's pants/jeans that small, and if you do (they fit your waist), they're still going to be too roomy in the rear/thighs for a woman. Yes, I know because I've tried it.
Boys' sizes, OTOH, might be too short because of the proportions.

Have you tried Old Navy or the Gap. They seem to have a multitude of sizes. Plus they have pixie pants that look like they'd be great on women with thin thighs. They aren't jeans but do look comfy and cute.
You're on the right track with the baggy jeans that are coming "in". Even the uber skinny 6 ft. models look short legged and chubby in them....They really have to fit exactly right to avoid that 'dumpy' look.
I have narrow hips and long skinny legs, and like to wear fitted pants.
Women pants are always too wide at hips and thighs. Very unflattering.
I found best fitting jeans in men's department - and men's sizes are more consistent that women. W28 x L33 always fits me well. I can order online without any worries.
