Why do I look so strange on zoom meetings? Egads.
Do I really look like that irl? Anyone else feel that way?
It's akin to being shocked when you hear how you sound like on a tape recorder.
Not a good feeling.
Normally we only see ourselves in a mirror, which is a reverse image, so when we see ourselves in photographs or on video, we are seeing ourselves the way others do, not they way we are used to.
The first time I heard myself on an answering machine message, I was shocked. It was my sister's voice.

We're over two years into the Zoom era, so we should be comfortable enough with the settings. You can hide "self view" so that your square isn't visible on your screen, you can flip the image so it looks more like what you're used to seeing in the mirror, and you can add the "touch up" setting.

How about one of those "ring" lights I see You-Tubers use? My hairdresser had one, and sent me a photo after he did my hair. I looked "great"----unlike the hot mess usually on Zoom. Like 30 years younger, lol.
Tape a piece of index card over the camera lens. Problem solved!!!
I keep a piece of tape over my laptop lens. And over my little Zoom image too, when I'm on it. I really, really hope I don't look THAT bad in real life. Just have to stay in denial....

I personally wouldn't bother. Whatever I look like to others is what I look like.
I've watched this video dozens of times. It makes me laugh every time. Now I'm going to start laughing all day for seemingly no reason just because I'm thinking about it. Wonder what the people on the other side of my Teams calls will think about that?
