I'm so fed up with how dingy white Keds sneakers get right away that, after all these years, I'm suddenly wondering if there's anything I can spray on new ones to help. Like Scotchgard? Or the water repellent I use on boots?

Cloth shoes or leather/suede? There are protective sprays and creams for leather. I suspect some of the canvas shoe dinginess comes from the inside...sweaty feet. Spraying Scotchgard in the outside wouldn't protect against that. You can clean white canvas sneakers:

For sure this is one of my pet peeves, I so love my white walking shoes, but, it's annoying to have to clean them so often. I walk most places, so, they pick up a lot of dirt and finding good product to restore their whiteness isn't always easy. I did have a product, I was using it during my time in Mexico, but, now I don't remember the name. I'm going to try another search for it on amazon, I will share the info if I find it.
One of those Mr. Clean magic erasers would take care of the rubber part.
