Low rise jeans became popular in the 2000s but lost their appeal by the mid-2010s. This shift was due to changing fashion trends, as well as a preference for higher-waisted cuts, which offer more coverage and are considered to be more flattering. Additionally, many consider high waist jeans to be more comfortable and versatile than low rise jeans.
Those dumb jeans came into style right around the time I had given birth to both of my kids via c-section. Let's just say that that particular trend was a hard no for me.
But realistically, it is not a style that looks good on most women. I've worn them but I always felt as though I was hiking them up, bending over and sitting down very carefully so that my backside wouldn't be exposed. I've seen way too many "plumber's crack" incidences on women wearing low rise jeans.
I only wear jeans that sit on my natural waist. I don't care if it's cool or not.
they didn't!
on the contrary they are again in trends
several designers have included low-rise jeans in their collections, and influencers and celebrities have been spotted wearing them
Funny thing - there are 4 "similar" threads posted under this one, they are maybe 10 years old. In both threads about women, they are advised NOT to get high waisted jeans because they are unflattering (which I feel is true for many people).
A few years ago I noticed an actress wearing tall jeans in her new roll. I think they look horrible on her and she is pretty thin! I've seen it with a few others. IMO!!! But I thought the old threads were funny after reading this one
I loved my low rise jeans. I still have a few pair. I need to pull them out in Vegas because Denver ain't the place to do it. Or bring them home to Miami with me on visits
The waistband of lose rise jeans cuts me right in the middle of the stomach. It's not comfortable. Yes, most of us have a bit of flab or fat above the waistband too, so how sexy is that?
Also I have a short torso/high waist which means the distance between my waist and my crotch is longer than other people's and low rise jeans do not fit people like me. The distance between the waistband and the crotch is too short so the crotch pinches me. Sizing up doesn't work. Low rise jeans only really fit certain bodies--thin, long torso/short waisted women (women with long torsos and a short distance between the waist and crotch).
