I assume you're talking about FACE skincare. I'm in my 40s now. Throughout the yrs, I've used drugstore brands & some higher-end brands of cleaners & other skincare. I use cleaners, scrubs, & sometimes masks. I never used toners much.

In my 20s, my skin would break out often & I could only use 1 or 2 types of cleansers. Now, it seems less sensitive. The store Sephora alone has hundreds or probably thousands of skincare lines/products. These days, I'm not trying to spend a lot of $, especially since I don't have to commute to work or anywhere much where I'm obligated to go on a regular basis.

Currently, on my bathroom counter are these, which I like:
Clean & Clear Lemon Zesty Facial Scrub with Lemon Extract & Vitamin C, but this line got discontinued:
https://www.amazon.com/Clean-Clear-B...ef_=ast_sto_dp

The Inkey List FULVIC ACID CLEANSER
https://www.theinkeylist.com/product...acid-cleanser#

These are drugstore brands, but I want to gradually try these next & see which ones I like best:

BIORÉ® CLEAN DETOX GENTLE CLEANSER
https://www.biore.com/en-us/products...etox-cleanser/

BIORÉ® BLEMISH FIGHTING ICE CLEANSER
https://www.biore.com/en-us/products...-ice-cleanser/

BIORÉ® BRIGHTENING JELLY CLEANSER
https://www.biore.com/en-us/products...elly-cleanser/

BIORÉ® BRIGHTENING EXFOLIATING SCRUB
https://www.biore.com/en-us/products...ng-face-scrub/

St. Ives ACNE CONTROL TEA TREE DAILY CLEANSER
https://www.stives.com/products/acne...daily-cleanser

St. Ives RADIANT SKIN PINK LEMON & MANDARIN ORANGE FACE SCRUB
https://www.stives.com/products/radi...nge-face-scrub

For the body, I want to try this:

St. Ives EXFOLIATING BODY WASH PINK LEMON & MANDARIN ORANGE

I just started this regimen yesterday. I just went the overseas route since the cost of medications is a fraction of what it is even to get the over-the-counter less potent retinoids here much less jump through doctors hoops and get a prescription for something that should be over the counter. Combine it with a moisturizer like CeraVe and sunscreen the best sunscreen is P20 kids cream that you have to order from Europe since their sunscreen ingredients aren't approved by the FDA. For those who didn't know European sunscreens are miles ahead of the United states especially in their ability to block UVA rays.

Basically tretinoin is the Holy Grail that has numerous controlled studies backing its Effectiveness and numerous real world examples of the improvements that are seen. You have to do your research and know how much to use and the frequency don't just dive right in used too much on your face will get inflamed and peel badly or so I've read.

Given how much women spend on cremes, their faces should look 20 years younger than men's faces.

I don't spend much on cremes, I save the money and get botox every now and than.
Most of the products cannot penetrate our skin cells, they just serve as a protective shield ,keeping the skin moist.
try eating fresh fruit and veggies.
Men eat right, plenty of quality protein

I use Buffet as my serum, and also swear by angireline for my forehead wrinkles and "11s", the caffeine serum for undereye puffiness, and their glycolic toner for exfoliation at night.
love the Ordinary..no perfume and seems to brighten and even out my skin... not too expensive either...Im also into Australian serums.. Organic Botanik triple serums in a box.. love them... Niacimide.. Vit C and Bakuchial. I go between these and Estee Lauder or Clinique serums...
