]I don't know any man rich poor poor wearing a watch anymore. Unless he is old. Its all about smartwatches note because people like to stay fit and track their progress as well as all the other cool things you can do with a smart watch. I have a Garmen730x. Not as fancy as a Rolex but better to me
Smart watches are a different thing entirely to me. I see a lot of folks wearing watches (truckers). My pa has watches but mostly wears his iWatch, or whatever it’s called. His retirement job involves driving, so being able to Dick Tracy fresh instructions is good for what he does. Smartwatches are basically watches in form only, which isn’t a neg on them, I just think they are a separate category altogether.
The only difference between a $200 watch and a $50,000 watch is the logo name on the dial. Otherwise they are made EXACTLY the same. Even minor differences in better materials should not be that costly.
I've never had a problem relying on my own sense of time supported by radio, TV, public clocks, clocks in vehicles, internet and telephones and none of my business dealings ever suffered. I have never, though, relied on using points on a globe to tell time and also have never worn a watch to argue about anything. There might be more to wearing a watch than that with which I'm aware.
Different people, different lifestyles, different tastes - it's not a moral issue in my opinion.
And I don't even care about expensive watches. But if someone else does, hey, that's OK. People should wear jewelry that makes them feel good.
My impression would only be a guess because there are way too many unknowns to have an impression, but I would figure the man liked to have a nice watch. Maybe it was a gift? Maybe he got it from work? Maybe he sells watches? Maybe it was his fathers? Maybe, maybe, maybe.
My point is, if people are judging someone that wears whatever, they are judgmental and probably not very bright.

I agree with this.
My brother is not well to do. He's also not flashy at all. He's very "under the radar." However, he wears a Rolex - because he inherited it from our dad and it reminds him of his dad. He's not trying to impress anyone with it.

That’s not really true, but I catch your drift. If you buy a watch and all you want it to do is tell time, then yeah, there’s really no functional difference.

In fact, a $200 quartz watch will tell time just a good as any of them.

Hardly true. Sure, a $200 watch will tell time just fine (and even better in many cases). But they are nothing like a $50,000 watch.

Both will tell time - in the same way a Ford Fiesta and Porsche 911 will get you to the same destination. That said, the differences are mechanical and in artistry, craftsmanship, precision, detail and so on. That some people don't appreciate (or want to pay for) those differences is fine, but to imply they don't exist is simply ridiculous.

I never implied such.
