Leggings and yoga pants look ridiculous on everyone- especially grown women of any weight, height, or size. It’s a fad that I hope ends soon. To me, it looks unpolished and lazy. Spend your money on a nice trouser jean or proper fitting pants.

Top should full to mid thigh giving total coverage to your butt

Not really.

Leggings are opaque knit, usually a blend of cotton jersey and spandex/elastane. Some are a denim elastane blend.

Pantyhose are nylon and considerably thinner and far less opaque. On a scale of thin to thick fabric,

Pantyhose --> --> Tights --> --> Leggings --> -->Denim leggings.

Exactly. LOL.

And you are so right that leggings and tights are two different things.

Enough coverage is when there is no camel toe and no countable rolls, muffin top visible.

Just curious.....because I sure see a whole lot of people in leggings that leave nothing to the imagination.
You can count every ripple and fat roll.

...a top should be long enough to cover the muffin top or stomach area...(you CAN still see the camel toe)
OR
....the top should cover the crotch and entire butt?
For ME, personally, I only wear leggings with very long tops that not only cover my butt and belly, but that also come part way down my thigh. The length can vary.

I have a couple of comfortable and attractive things to wear with leggings that are actually supposed to be dresses for regular women but come to six inches above the knee on me. I am too old to wear dresses that short, but they look like very long sweaters on me, and with leggings and a scarf they make a nice outfit. They well cover what needs to be covered, and the look is kind of slimming besides.

Yeah, I often wear dresses as long tunics with leggings or jeans. Flexibility of being a tall person.
