Haha, I agree! Uhtred of Bebbanburg on The Last Kingdom definately pulls off the man bun and a sword!

I generally don't care one way or the other how people choose to style themselves thought I do appreciate when they are well groomed.

A couple of my female students shaved the underneath part of their hair because apparently it is cooler when their hair is up but still allows them to wear their hair long when down. Seems clever. As for muns I am indifferent.

I know this is the fashion and beauty forum but I always find it amusing when people think their sense of style is somehow "correct" and any thing they dislike should "go away".

man buns and white dreads are both popular with the young hippie crowd here.

It seems like a number of man bun wearers live here in Washington and I think it is a ridiculous look. I have yet to see one man that looks good with a bun! Some of them think they have a secure-in-one's-own masculinity look, that they are trendy, etc. To me, they just look like bad-trend following sheep with a stupid looking bun. Some men actually do look quite sexy with long hair but not in a bun.

It used to be in my area that the Trustafarians usually had dreads. Now Trustafarians have the man buns and white guys with dreads are usually a bit more committed to a simpler lifestyle, ie. "real" hippies rather than man-bunned, Patagonia and sandals wearers talking abut their latest trip to Phuket or Machu Picchu.

As for the women with the shaved side head (I just can't call it an undercut, because it isn't, imo), I think its hot, but they're a bit too young for me these days.

No one wore their hair that way in the 1980s other than grannies with buns.

Of course, most ladies did wear buns in the 1880s.

I'm not a fan of man buns or shaved sides on women. I have long hair myself and unless I turn into a sumo wrestler I ain't rocking the man bun anytime soon.

Not when they are overweight and have moonfaces. As with all hairstyles, one has great results choosing ones appropriate to face shape and features.

Man bun? No way
Women (or men) can be quite slim and still have full, aka "moon", faces. It has to do with bone structure more than weight in most cases.

I think the shaved sides look is ugly on anyone, regardless of facial shape. It's just harsh and unattractive.

Short hair is one thing, even fully shaved heads on balding men - but this strikes me as frequently being an attempt at getting attention by sporting a weird and unbecoming hairstyle, when attention is not forthcoming for any more positive reason

Others clearly may differ.
