Cornucopia (sorry, spelling nut here)

My mom always dressed up and wanted me to dress up for holiday dinners when I was growing up (and even beyond...probably still wishes I would), and as I got older, I realized it was because she wanted to "keep up" with the rest of the family. I grew out of that. I wear my regular clothes, nothing special or dressy. I'm there to visit with family, not to try to win a fashion contest.

(I have to admit I never come to this board and will probably get told, "Fashion is what we discuss on the Fashion and Beauty board, so bug off!" LOL But I saw the title of the thread in the "Active Threads) and thought about how that always made me feel slightly anxious as a kid, participating in the "Thanksgiving Fashion Show"....I hated it....so I came here to be rebellious. )

I didn't even wear pants to my Thanksgiving table this year! LOL! We were away up in the mountains, just the four of us, and I got up in the morning in a giant shirt and a robe and socks and cooked up a storm. Then we all descended on the table.

I plan on dressing up for Christmas, though. I'll be cooking then too but it will be at home with extended family over.

I put on a tight, knee long dress and tall boots, 3inch heel. Got told I am overdressed.
I switched the tall boots with ankle boots, 1inch heel. Got told I am overdressed.
I switched to tight jeans with sneakers and a regular sweater.

When we arrived at the TG location, I was still overdressed.

I wore black tights, ankle boots, and a simple bright colored dress. Fairly casual as I did all of the cooking and it was just immediate family.
