The only sneakers I wear sock less are canvas vans. The are not synthetic and "dry" better than most shoes that have synthetic uppers. If the sneakers you are looking at have synthetic uppers I would do the now shoes sock thing.
I've always thought it's not only silly but kind of disgusting not to wear socks.
When you get up in the morning, would you rather put your nice clean feet into some nice clean socks that will offer you protection, or would you rather put your nice clean feet directly into dirty sweaty shoes?
I never wear socks with my running shoes....it's just my personal preference; I don't like socks. My shoes go in the washing machine as needed and then they smell fine. Easy-peasy.
I am looking to buy a pair of casual Nike women’s sneakers(i.e. Thea, Roshe), but I was wondering if it’s a good idea to wear them without socks because I see them being worn without socks in a lot of pictures like this:

Since it’s summer I want a pair of women's sneakers that I can throw on without wearing any kind of socks since I prefer not to wear socks in the summer, but I’m worried that If I don’t wear socks the shoes will get gross and start smelling awful. What is your opinion on wearing sneakers without socks? Have you ever worn sneakers without socks, if you did, then did you have any problems with the shoes smelling bad?
With me it depends on the season:
In Spring and Fall I might go sockless.
But not in Summer and Winter.
I bought a bunch of pairs of Sole Socks, they are insoles made of sock material (and some other textiles) that eliminate the need for socks. I can never get those sock liner things to stay straight on my feet when wearing flats, so these are way better.
I have. It was stank town. I mean, sock less for a run to the mailbox is fine, but for all day or something it will get uncomfortable, imo.
Agree. I handwash my sneakers on a regular basis so foot-funk is not a problem. I did throw on some nike's w/out socks to go out one night and got blisters from standing around drinking for like 6hrs lol ~ Not cool@ all.
I won't say MOST I guess, but for sure MANY people here on the gulf coast wear shoes without socks routinely. I never wear socks with my Sperry's or Sanuk's but I do with my Nike's. I guess it's a regional thing.
