OP, since it's a skater skirt type, it will be less likely to ride up than a tight skirt, a tube skirt, and the like. I've worn skirts like that, and lived to tell the tale. I assume you'd be buying it for casual wear, not for the office. But if it makes you self-conscious, then don't buy it. My solution to wanting a cute look like that without the potential embarrassment is to wear golf skorts. There's a huge selection of styles, fabrics (prints vs. solids, etc.) and prices on golf clothes & equipment websites, and occasionally they can be found in regular sports wear catalogs. They look better than shorts, and are extremely comfortable for summer.
I was thinking about purchasing the following skirt, Arabella – NOVEM & KNIGHT but in all honesty, I don't believe I'll ever wear it, because it may be a little too short.
What if I need to bend down, or what if the skirt accidentally comes up, without me knowing?? YIKES
Also, I'm curious, ladies when you wear short skirts, do you normally wear biker shorts rolled up underneath? I just can't imagine leaving the house without something underneath the skirt, just in case I have a fashion mishap.
It'd be too short for me--I'm in my early 40s and a size 10/12. I think the micro miniskirts look better on young women who are very thin. If I were to wear one, I'd go for "boy shorts" under it, or wear opaque leggings or tights under it.
I'd advise against it. I'm younger than you and saw a girl yesterday with a dress with a similar shape at the bottom. The girl bent over and despite wearing tights, her underwear and bum were out for display. You'd have to carefully bend at the knees to avoid showing your goods. Sounds like you've made up your mind though, so if it comes and is still too short, just send it back?
Age has nothing to do with this, if it's your taste and you have the shape to pull it off, then go for it! Assuming you'll feel comfortable in it, otherwise, it'll show -- plus you'll feel uncomfortable and why put yourself through that?!
I wear short skirts all the time and am very comfortable wearing them (particularly with flats), if you're worried about a mishap, wear boy shorts... if you're worried you'll be uncomfortable, then don't wear them at all.

Youre supposed to bend down carefully at the knees anyway.
