Because in the USA sissies are not considered appealing to women.
LOL. I think American guys don't wear Speedos because they don't want women, and other guys, to know how well hung (or not) they really are. And Speedos leave little to the imagination, especially if they malfunction, as bikinis often do. I don't believe it has to do with male vanity in general because many, maybe even most, American guys don't care if they're fat/ugly and everyone sees it. If they did, they wouldn't be wearing even swim trunks in the first place.
All right American ladies, we need your opinions. When you see a guy with a good body wearing a speedo on the beach, do you think he is:
1) attractive
2) gay
3) weird
4) neither
Good one! Start an official poll, OP. New thread, poll thread. Be sure you include the info that the guy's in good shape. Make him foreign; like another poster suggested: French. Then see what happens. Better stand back! It could get wild. There might be a stampede, or something.

So "A free man" isn't worth listing?
It's funny, there are contexts in which Americans think freedom is very important, but when it's a question of a man wearing what he wants to, it's conform conform conform, all the way.
Speedos aren't all that popular outside of the US.
They are only popular with certain europeans and in Brazil. Even in those countries, younger guys tend to prefer board shorts.
No, they don't.
The guys wear board shorts OVER their Speedos as shorts.
