I was talking to someone at the gym that went to a spa when they were visiting the southwest last year. This person thoroughly enjoyed the time there, the services, and the staff. Has anyone been to one, and what were your favourite treatments? Do you plan on going again? I've never been to one.
Assuming youre referring to a day spa and not a gym/health spa yes ive been to one many times. Massage and mani-pedis are what i like the best and what keep me coming back. Some day i intend to get a facial and body scrub maybe even a mud bath.
The wife and I go to spas all the time. Well, we used to go a lot before kid arrived. They are great.
Massages, facials, body scrubs, reiki, acupuncture, acupressure, saunas, cold dips, etc. are all great.
Some of our favorite "destination" spas are Bellagio hotel in Vegas, La Costa Resort down near San Diego and a couple going up north towards Santa Barbara and wine country. Burke Williams is pretty good, and there are a few of those around. You can check Yelp for the most highly recommended spas in your area OP and go from there. I HIGHLY recommend it, even if you just go for the basic Swedish massage and facials.
The southwestern spas are neat. I'm a guy so I would do the sweat lodge followed by a cold dip in the pool and then I would do a mud bath, mud basically everywhere. Then I would get out and shower off and then have oils rubbed on my body.
It was very relaxing and well worth the money, you feel like a million bucks leaving one of those places.
What would be the ultimate spa is a chiropractic adjustment followed by everything I just described above, they would have to provide a bed because it would knock me out.
I've been to a great spa in North Carolina. Services include massages, body scrubs, facials, nails. After your services, you can enjoy saunas (dry and steam), hot tubs, cold plunge, the indoor mineral pool, or swim under the waterfall for a great water massage. Spending the day getting pampered and chilling by the pool while they bring you smoothies or wine ... ahhhhh ... bliss!
The only spa I've been to is the swank one at Encore in Las Vegas. It was a gift, and I'd never pay that kind of $$ myself. I do get regular massages, though.
