Could be anyone like:

Denzel Washington
John "Uncle Jesse" Stamos
Maxim Chermkosky
Shemar Moore
The Rock
Etc.

"Tall" and "handsome" require no clarification as they are easily defined, but the "Dark" part is where people's variances will come into play as it can mean dark hair, dark eyes, tanned skin, black dude, etc.

Skin tone that's olive or darker, and dark brown or black hair. Over about 5'10. This easily includes people like Nigel Barker, Vin Diesel, Tyson Beckford, Taye Diggs and many more not coming to mind at the moment.

Close, but the movie that popularized that term was written around Cesar Romero in 1941. The first written use of that term goes back to a story in a monthly magazine (from 1833) called "The story of Hester Malpas"

Clark Gable. Hands-down, Clark Gable (though Errol Flynn comes close...).

Some things just don't change.
