if being white was the high bar to achieve for beauty, then why do millions of woman go tanning and lay out in the sun to look darker??
milions and millions of women use to lay out in the sun to look dark, and they pay the price later in life for it-that's why they don't age well- and if they smoked, that's another strike against them

If you truly believe that the media controls what all people find attractive, then wouldn't that give the media the control to make people all gay/lesbians because they emphasized the attractiveness of men/women? After all, if the media says women are most attractive and that's all that matters, why aren't all women lesbians? Base on the most common advertising, if the "media" had all the control, then wouldn't everyone of all races/genders only be looking for 18 year old blondes?
The truth is people will always find their own definition for attractive. People do not always listen to the media, and to think otherwise drastically undermines the human ability to think for yourself.

I am not sure I would assign a negative connotation of a "conspiracy" because marketing types lean towards models who are representative of attractiveness ideals to the majority population.
There are also a lot of terrific looking, highly successful models of minority descent in modern marketing.
The marketers are not trying to force down people's throats what is attractive, they are trying to appeal to what most already think is attractive to gain people's attention. If they find the stereotypical blue eyed blond model gets the most attention, then they are more than likely to go that route.
What you wrote is untrue. What one find attractive can be forced upon you and there's a reason why white women are elevated and promoted above others. It's to keep the hierarchy or domination in all facets of life over other groups. Those who are in control of the media don't let the public dictate to them of what should be sold or promoted. They actually decide for the public.
Yes this is after the UCSB tragedy that happened after the guy got angry of white girls rejecting him and went on a rampage. Now since White girls are always promoted as the most attractive, guys (of all races) want them.
If they were not promoted as the most attractive, would they still be the most desired?
No. But people in general would still find them attractive.
I've never seen white women "promoted" as the most attractive. That is your own subjective reality. Choose to love yourself and validate your own beauty and you'll see the world differently.

Publishers can put anyone on the cover of a magazine and people will still buy depending on the content and purpose of the magazine issue. Magazines make money through subscription anyway. What or who is this someone that people want to see. There's plenty of people I rather not see on the cover of a magazine but they were on there anyway.

The media can and do dictate and manipulate people into what to love, hate, fear, respect, and desire. Do you think all the negative media about black people doesn't serve a purpose other than showing the world black people's faults and errors? It's used as a tactic to make and keep people from loving blacks and to promote and sustain a fear of them. You people on City Data are really naive or pretending to be foolish. The media manipulates, shapes and dictates to the public of what they should like or what they shouldn't. When it comes to beauty it's no differently.

MTV didn't show black videos period. It's their network and they have the power and the rule is no black people. The same thing with "Most Beautiful Person in the World" or "Beauty Pageants". White people are in power and are the dominant group. They have to keep it that way in all facets of life. The beauty avenue is no exception. White women can't be ignored because that would indicate a loss of power. White people understand this. But everyone else wants to pretend that there's no game being played. To admit so would admit to racism and that's what everyone is dodging.
