I totally disagree with alot of the above...especially tghe comment about "needing to cover up more if age 35 & up"...lol....OMG!!! I am 35, a size 2, a 25 inch waist, 34 chest.....and very proud of how hard I work to maintain it...and feel it can shown off very well in a formal, tasteful way. Having said that, I have seen many twenty something year olds with lets just say not so good bodies, and no taste! Do & wear what feels right for you, and you only...not some skinny *****, or overweight out of shape youngster that knows nothing about class or comfort in your own skin!
I think that there is definitely a range here. Appropriate is how you wear it and keeping a classy, tasteful cut in mind, however you can still be sexy. About avoiding pearls and such...nonsense! Pearls are lovely and classic and high fashion does collide very well with classic and safe, so go for it! Black certainly is safe and classic, not boring. Get edgy with appropriate, but fun jewelry..bold cuff bracelets, killer drop earrings or a statement necklace - not all three! Good luck and have fun. Oh, as for always black shoes....blah, blah, blah. A classic nude shoe can elongate your legs and let the dress shine! Cheers!
