Hi. I got one of these sweaters as a gift. It's really nice, and feels good, but I don't know a damn thing about fashion.

What am I supposed to wear with one of these things?

Patagonia Men's Lambswool Crewneck Sweater

Slacks, Jeans?
Nice shoes or sneakers?
Belt or no belt?
Collared shirt underneath or just a t-shirt?

Thanks for your expert advice?

Slim chinos trousers.
Suede shoes.
Belt.
Oxford light blue or white shirt or gingham checked shirt. Sleeve folder up just once (this is important)

Or you can do jeans and sneakers and look ordinary

Patagonia ain't exactly haute couture, so a better question is what NOT to wear with it. So outside of a suit or a tuxedo, I can't think of anything that you couldn't wear this sweater with.

You could go casual business/prep school with a white shirt and tie, slacks (black, grey, kaki maybe even blue). You could without doubt look good nice in a pair of jeans. Your shoes should match the occasion anything for a pair of brogans to sneakers. This is about the most versatile clothing gift any hip aunt or mom could come up with (they are the usual suspects when you get cloths as a gift, girl friends and wives come in second place).

I got to ask this, if this is your biggest fashion dilemma, I got to ask... who dresses you in the morning.

This.

Nice, basic look - should be easy and comfortable to wear. Don't stress about it.

I really like the idea of the checkered shirt underneath. That would turn up the "ooh, nice" factor.

Only problem with the checked shirt is that the jumper is block striped. Not a 100% faux-pas but like 60%

How about a $119 refund? I'll split it with you.

It looks warm and comfy. Turn the thermostat down a few degrees and wear it around the house.

It is supposed to look ordinary and boring so that it can highlight the collars and cuffs of the shirt.
