I got questions for you guys.
I am a very anal person - I like to wash and throw out everything into the washing machine from leather key chain to wool sweaters.
So far I have had luck throwing my leather bag and whatnot into the machine - granted I also reconditioned them afterward.
This past weekend I got myself a waxed canvas bag. I have no idea what I was thinking.

Humor me:
Do you think I will have luck putting it in a washing machine? If say the wax comes off, do any of you know whether it will clog the machine?
Can I clean it by just putting it under running water in the shower?

If it is too much trouble, I am just going to return it (before washing it of course).

The shower is a much better idea. Cold or lukewarm water, no soap stronger than shampoo.

You can put it in the machine, cold water only, no dryer, but the agitation will cause a million tiny cracks in the surface and the bag will look very worn and not be waterproof any more.

This +1.
It's a week old and you need to wash it already? Anyway, look inside for the label and read what is says for cleaning. Or call the shop where you bought it. Other purchasers must have asked the same question. The merchants may not know, but might be able to direct you in the right direction.

Luck.

It is a week old bag but I am anal. I like to clean everything. (I know Even my friends joke that they can eat jell-o flopped onto my home's floor)

I personally would not throw it in the wash, depending on how much you paid for it. Since it's coated canvas can't you just wipe it off with a disinfectant wipe? I know I've taken my cloth coach handbags and sprayed the insides and outsides with lysol before, many times to be exact and they always looked fine, granted I never tried it with coated canvas. Maybe that is a option? It also depends on if it has leather straps or cloth straps, and if it has leather, what kind? If you got cloth straps i'd not wash but spray and wipe and hang up to dry. However that's just me, it's just my opinion...do what you wish.

Thanks Carolina Dreams.
This is actually men Coach bag as well. And yes, it does have leather trimming.
I am not really worried about the leather trimming as I washed my Coach's leather Bleecker gym / tote bag in the washing machine. It turned out fine - of course you have to recondition the leather! I washed it at least 3 times since I got it several years back.
PS: Guys if you want to wash your leather bags, proceed with your own risk. In my own experience, I have been lucky - but you never know...

I will let everybody know how it turns out. I start considering returning it.

They are tags added for the purpose of the search engine. It is not uncommon for them to not quite match up with the subject.
