Thanks for your replies. You've given me a lot to think about. I can see that y'all have a lot more fun with clothes than I do. I don't know how I got into the "uniform" of black pants. You'd think I was Amish or something!

I forgot to say that I am 59----am I now too old to break out of black pants and do the purple? I try to be toned with daily gym workouts, but skin's not as taut as it used to be, even if I'm still fitting in size 6.

If I keep the pants, maybe the green would be too much for me. I'll always think I look like a bunch of grapes or the joker!

And some of the prints suggested were too much for me...not worn a print for years!

I think I could be okay with navy or maybe even peacock blue.

Opsimatha, I saw the tape sweater at Kohls and thought it looked good on the hanger (like a much more expensive sweater, complete with the scarf). Forgot to try it on.

Not sure about the comment about the pants buckling at the belly button in the photo? If they do on a model with perfect proportions where the photo can be altered, what hope is there for us mere mortals to look good?

I would go with Dior gray. As you are older, you should remember that color. I love it! A marled navy sweater shoukd also look good.

I guess a floral in the right colors could be okay, Jan---just that I haven't worn prints in forever. I need one of you to come with me and help me shop!

Southern Bell, had to Google the Dior gray. Love it! Very sophisticated. But---is it available in stores?

Well your post inspired me to wear my pants in a similar shade. I had a cobalt blue tank (with a subtle pattern), a grey long cardigan and some wacky shoes:

A lime shirt would be very nice, or something with a pattern

Jade, fancy shoes! But you say my post inspired you to wear your purple pants.....have you not been wearing them because of the color? Is purple just too in your face to wear?

I would go with a sheer beige or grey, silver jewelry, or gold jewelry if you do beige
