The problem with Payless is that their shoes are not leather --- they're all "man-made materials" and I can't wear those.
I'm looking for quality shoes that are comfortable and attractive.
I also have plantar faciitis as well as heel spurs on both heels so that's another issue. I looked at the Orthaheels site but they are way overpriced and not very nice looking (mostly sneakers from what I saw)
Being a size 12, I've been using Zappos for 10 years or so (might even be longer at this point.) Great search features, Free Shipping To and for Returns (I'm VIP, so I get next day delivery, but even when I wasn't VIP, I still received my shoes the next day), excellent return system, great customer service.
I used to order from Friedman Shoes, but I don't like their online search features when compared to Zappos.
Massey's is another catalog company that I used to order a lot from. I haven't ordered anything from them in over 10 years though. Zappos kind of replaced them for me.
Have you tried DSW? Piperlime.com? Naturalizer.com?
I've also had shoes made at ShoesUSA.com. (Although I don't think any of those shoes/boots are what you had in mind. )
SAS shoes are very comfortable and wear well. A bit expensive but are worth it for comfort. Very wide range of sized and widths. See if they have a store near you. All leather.
For sneakers I like men's Saucony. With a wide foot you should fit alot of men's sneakers. I'm a 12 women's average width (used to be narrow and that was a pain) but I buy 11 men's sneakers.
For winter boots I have a great pair of Baffins. They are super comfy. But they are real winter boots. Not fashion winter boots.
Golite is anther brand I find really comfortable. I have their hiking boots in men's but since your only an 11 you might fit their women's styles. They sell them at Dillards (or used to). For the men's styles they have two very different molds, one of which doesn't fit me at all and the other of which is a great match so try to find them locally to try on. Even though you may fit the women's in length being wide you might want to try the men's styles in a 9 or 10. http://www.zappos.com/golite-women-b...%3A0%2Cipp%3A0
I am also an 11-wide----also due to the birth of my son 23 years ago. Your story sounded exactly like mine---used to be 9.5 before pregnancy. I had tons of great/cute shoes that no longer fit after having a baby. I now wear certain brands that I can always count on to have 11 wide: Sofft, Naturalizer, Dansko, Clarks and Munro. Personally, I think the Sofft brand offers the cutest styles. I buy them at Schuler Shoes (go to SchulerShoes.com). Of course, you probably find them online cheaper than at Schuler's---but I have a Schuler's near where I live so I usually just buy there. Good luck!! I know what it's like!!
I also have plantar faciitis as well as heel spurs on both heels so that's another issue. I looked at the Orthaheels site but they are way overpriced and not very nice looking (mostly sneakers from what I saw)
Check out Foot Smart -- you can search by foot ailment! Although they do have a lot of Orthaheels, they have other brands.
I went from a size 11 to 12 over the years. It's really kept me from accumulating too many shoes. I usually just end up wearing the same one or two pair to work; same at home -- I live in my Keen's slip on sandals year round (just add socks for winter).
I like Amazon even better than Zappos now...you can search by percent off. Cool deals!
If you buy regularly from Zappo's you can asked to be listed as a "VIP" customer which gets you deals and bargains not offered to the public.
