This is my issue too. I really prefer a stain/sheer effect that is moist. I recently purchased a Cover Girl item, "Lipperfection Jumbo Gloss Balm" and I like it, it's moisturizing and doesn't look like lipstick when it's on. I think it was $6 or so.
My favorite years ago used to be a stain from Origins, "Just Bitten Blackberry" or something like that but they stopped selling it and I was sad. I have a handful of lipsticks that I just never wear, it seems like they no longer work with the minimal amount of makeup I wear unless I blot most of it off.
