Just watched a news article about this type of foundation and am curious to see if anyone has used it? Which brands are good, which to avoid? Thinks in advance for any insight.
I'm using the cheapo Maybelline kind of BB cream right now, just to try it out, but it doesn't seem all that much different than the tinted moisturizer/sunscreen/pore minimizer/whatever that I had been using. Maybe the pricier brands are more miraculous.
I've gotten the Garnier brand BB cream, but it's not as good as my Stila tinted moisturizer w/ SPF. I got it hoping that it would be a good substitute for the much pricier Stila, but it's just not.
My biggest complaint is that it doesn't set well and smudges off too easily.
The concept is an import from Asia, so it's not surprising that they're not traditionally made for darker skin tones.
I tried the Maybelline. No great shakes. Would not buy again. But, this comes from a makeup minimalist!!! Give it a try it may work for you, Maybelline has many shades. I bought some for my cousin and she said it blended perfectly with her coloring.
My daughter uses the Maybelline. It works great on her. I tried it on myself and it seemed to set well and didn't come off when I was out in the heat. It didn't look good over my freckles though.
From my understanding, they originated in Germany (I think) for burn victims (somewhere between 1920-1950?).
Also, I have heard from the makeup gurus at other sites I frequent that the cheaper BB creams (mostly American made) like Maybelline or Garnier are not true BB creams, just tinted moisturizers. What they said the difference was, I forgot.
"Real" ones include Missha and some other brands.
