Personality comes first.

I have dated and had relationships with men who ranged from a scrawny 5'7" 145 lbs to a tall 6'6" 210lbs, to 6'2" 260lb with a big beer belly.

But....if I had to pick a man based on body type alone, I prefer a bit of padding over the muscles. I do not like the bodybuilder type. I like a man that feels good to cuddle up against. I would take extra weight over skinny if it came down to it.

Dream guy: 5'10" to 6'2" 180-230lbs. yum!

With the caveat that there are things more important than looks, that oftentimes someone who isn't my type can be attractive to me anyway, etc etc:

I really like a burly guy. Someone who is both strong and has meat on him

Do I like men who look fit? As opposed to what--pudgy men? And what does a fit man look like? Low body fat, big muscles? Or average weight with a healthy look to him? I like a man who looks like he could go on a hike or bike ride ride with me and not hurt himself. Too much muscle definition can be pretty to look at it, but ultimately we probably have very different lifestyles, and that's guy's would not sound fun to me.

What's the first neck-down thing I notice? Probably shoulders and arms. I'm tall and broad-shouldered, and I like a man to be bigger than me.

If by fit you mean one of those hard bodied muscle heads -- no thank you. I prefer the John Goodman look. My husband is like that. Make no mistake, you try anything on me, and he'll rip you in two with no problem.

Hubby worked in indy pro wrestling for a long time, and the one thing I learned about those cut chiseled bodies the people think are so fine -- they blow up fast in the ring. So many of those types work hard on the musculature and forget about the cardio.... and when they need to move that bulk they created, they're caved in minutes.

Where as my hubby -- packed the very heavy ring and ring posts into the truck, helped set up the ring, anounced the show, managed some bad guys to get in on the fun, did major running around, finished the show, tore down the ring, packed it in the truck and took it home...

I would think that the overwhelming majority of women would prefer fit guys. Personality has nothing to do with it because for the sake of this thread, we are to assume that all other things are equal - personality, income, attitude, etc. So for people to say "oh, its personality first...." is just silly.

Most of the women Ive dated in my lifetime have complemented me on the following non sexual organ body parts (they all seemed to really like that part though):

1. Abs - Chicks always seem to dig a guy with abs.
2. Neck/trap/shoulders - Helps to really define the "V" shape. Plus, lots of martial arts (striking) builds this.
3. "V" shaped body
4. Butt - ever since high school women have complimented me on it. Wife says its the most perfect she's ever seen.
5. Back - very defined and muscular.

I prefer fit. But the one thing that I could never see myself growing comfortable with is moobs. Its just strange to me. It looks half female and half male...but not really either. I dunno. I hate it.

You and your wife sure like butts. I don't notice them that much.

How does your traps contribute to your V-shape?
Thought it was mostly done with increasing latissimus to obliques ratio?

Anyway yes, women seem to dig abs, but on me they mostly complement me on my arms :P

The Neck/Trap/Shoulders comment I made I just lumped them all together. Its the shoulders that makes the top part of the "V" shape, but many of the exercises I do tend to define that area all together.

As far as arms go, I dont really have the big walking around yoked up arms. Because of the style of kung fu I do, big biceps are more of a hinderance than anything else. I have nice triceps but bis arent that great.
