Do you think the picture is sexually suggestive for a child and should have been banned?
What do you think?
Quote:
In the ad, an innocent-looking Dakota, dressed in a frilly pink dress, holds a giant bottle of Marc Jacobs' Oh, Lola! perfume between her thighs. Four complaints were lodged from readers offended with the ad, which was enough for the Advertising Standard's Authority to pull the campaign.
I know it's purposely provocative, but when I look at that I just see a teen with a bottle of perfume casually held in her lap, not an intentional reference to her genitals.
I've heard of other ads banned in the UK for edging the line of kiddie porn, but I'm surprised that shows like Skins which has teenaged actors in sexual situations are totally fine by them. Odd.
If the ad is meant to be provocative, it falls way short of the mark. The model looks like a young 17, but not very young. The pose is casual, not remotely sexy. The bottle is too large -- and Jiminy Cricket, with an out of proportion bow or flower for a top! -- to be thought of as anything else.
Such storm in a teacup!

Wow. She's looking good. She is sexy. That photo certainly has sexual undertones, but it seems pretty tame compared to American standards. It may be inappropriate, I'm not sure. Ask yourself this: would you like your sister or daughter to pose in the same way?
I don't see anything overtly sexual. I'm much more skeeved by those American Apparel ads. They always make me think of runaway kids trying to make a few bucks in a pervert's basement.
