wow 45.00 for a tote bag regardless of a cause or not , I could not justify spending that much on a tote bag in this economy . I could not even see 25.00 in this economy when we are paying 4.00 a gallon in gas . They are nice looking bags though just cant justify it to myself or anyone else .

In an effort of full disclosure I should state I bought my UNICEF bag years ago at a UNICEF event. But I also do small things like buy tote bags at various places where the profits go for a good cause. Museums. Schools. I've gotten some pretty cool bags for 5, 6 bucks. Then I use them for groceries or whatever.
I hadn't had one in years and then about two months ago I received an e-mail from them offering the largest tote for $23. I grabbed it up. They last forever.
I have a great tote that I bought several years ago at K-Mart. It's a canvas beach tote, similar to the L.L. Bean, but wider. It was originally $25., but I bought it end-of-season and it was marked down to about $12. It holds pretty much everything I take to the shore for a week.
I agree that L.L.Bean makes a great product, but now that I'm retired, money's tight.
