I've bought on eBay, such a pain in the ass...... I know what really goes on from having actually worked there.... A nice stroll through the mall suits me any day.

Yes! TJ Maxx is a great place to look. Also Marshalls.

What do you do when you want to find something unique? Or vintage?

I sell on ebay and I belong to an ebay sellers' group and we are honest and reputable. Not that any of us really like ebay as an entity because they do not treat the sellers very well and they charge too much to list BUT we, ourselves, take pride in what we sell.

I have a problem with purses that weigh a ton before you put anything in them, like Dooney & Burke. I usually like Fossil. For some reason, I always find the style, quality and function are just what I want. I could not care less about designer logos, but I want leather, and quality construction.

I got my mom an American West purse for Christmas. It came with a lifetime guarantee. It's very well made.

Have you tried Furla? They make beautiful designer bags and if you get them on sale/out-of-season, they're fairly inexpensive.

Not vintage and probably not too unique--want classic lines in a satchel or tote style. Was looking at the Stone Mountain handbags on QVC today so maybe will buy from them. It's so much easier when you can actually feel and examine the purse closeup but no stores around here!

Some of the best handbags in the world do not have a designer label slaped on them. I knew the "old days" were gone when I went into Gucci and their handsbags were no longer lined in leather - that is one key to a good handbag, the next is hardware and stitching. There are other aspects such as type of leather, etc. etc., but you get the idea.

Take the time to examine a handbag and if it is leather, the color doesn't come off on you, the stitching is of quality thread and well stitched - well you are more than half way there. And these handbags can be found at a reasonable price particularly on sale.

Jessica Simpson actually has a very nice line of leather handbags. I got one recently from TJ Maxx for $60. Black leather with nice lining and hardware accents.
