Michael Kors has some lovely bags and can be found in department stores.

Tano has really nice bags, most are pretty light weight. You can find some older style on eBay or current styles on Must Have Bag- the best Tano retailer online!

I personally like Cole Haan and B. Makowsky the best, although I've been a longtime admirer of Michael Kors also. Although their prices are in the same range as Coach and Dooney & Bourke, they can be had for cheaper at places such as T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. Even Cole Haan will have good sales online every once in a while. If you're still looking for something classic and decent at a more affordable price, I would suggest Tignanello or Etienne Aigner handbags.

I agree. In my younger days I used to buy gently used Coach and Dooney Bourke bags from eBay - some people use them for one season and they are done with them - the ones I have bought have been in excellent condition with many more years of life in them - often at a great savings.

I find that Dooney Bourke bags are very heavy and I've stopped buying them because of this since I some shoulder, neck and back issues. I now get small shoulder bags from T.J. Maxx - they are slim, leather, lots of pockets and zipped sections - they fit fit my credit cards, driver's license, lipstick, mirror, cell phone, reading glasses and a small mirror - all I need on a daily basis and they are light weight. I have bought some wonderful purses at T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods - they will still cost between $100 and $200, but they originally cost double that.

I like Perlina bags...not as expensive as Coach, but just as well-made and durable, at least the ones I've owned.

If you don't mind vintage styles, check out the thrift stores in your area. I've found all kinds of great purses at Goodwill.

LIEBESKIND consistently has lots of good styles AND the attachment for a shoulder strap, which I definitely appreciate! I hate the too-short straps to carry by the elbow!

Fossil. But you will have trouble finding a truly affordable leather handbag. They have become expensive in the last 20 years or so.

Have a look at the sale page on the Fossil website. You can order directly from them.
