See, the thing with dude cardigans is that there is the cozy gramps raking-leaves-in-autumn-after-church look, the "I'm hiding my needle tracks under scuzzy wool that smells of mothballs and stale cigarettes" look, and not much in between. Except maybe the hip-hop impresario/dandy look.
I think on some men it looks real stylish and snazzy. But I watched a show last week, think it was on ESPN, and they were making fun of men who wear cardigans and sweater vests as apparently its coming back into style. So I guess maybe guys shouldn't wear them because other guys will make fun of them.

Finally someone who is aware of this in a modern context, not that there is anything wrong with the examples of yesteryear including the endearing one left behind by Mr. Rogers but that is not what I was talking about.
I also would not suggest anyone take fashion advice from sports commentators on ESPN.
I think cardigans should be a staple in every man's wardrobe. They are practical and a great alternative to a pullover sweater, sweat shirt, or jacket. They look great depending on how they are worn and who is doing the wearing.
Whether one looks like an old man or not, depends on the man, not the cardigan.

So I am guessing if your husband was David Beckham then there would be no teasing? Or would there be more?
