Okay, so I thought you all might have some suggestions for me.
My left shoulder causes me some degree of pain when I exercise. I cannot recall having injured it-nothing significant comes to mind. At first I thought it was just because it is weaker than the right shoulder, and that it would get better with time. But I've been exercising since April, and being careful with the shoulder, but the pain hasn't gone away. It's a stabbing-type pain toward the front of my shoulder, maybe an inch or two down from the top of the shoulder.
Any ideas for how I can strengthen this area and help reduce the pain?
Go to a physical therapist; it is probably an impingement.
Looked this up. Sounds like it might be right. I'll try some extra stretching for now and some very light weight work to try and strengthen it.
Can't afford the physical therapist right at this moment. It's not impacting me significantly during the day, only when I try to do push-ups or certain moves while working out.
I don't know how some of you guys are trying to diagnose his condition before asking the most important question:
What have you been doing for exercise since April?
Most people do not understand just how fragile the shoulder is and get injured or end up unbalancing that area by doing to much of a certain exercise. It would help to know what your typical routine is.
i had shoulder pain. went to an ortho. he gave me cortizone which did squat and prescription to physical therapy. therapy helped and i was back to near normal range of motion and activities in less than a month.
