Okay, maybe I am biased being British, but London is far more international, is home to many large communities of foreigners, not just from third world nations but the US, Australia, New Zealand etc. and you will easily feel at home in London after a while. There are over 200,000 Americans living in the UK, mostly in London, and there are American bars and American churches etc.
London is home to far more opportunities, a better job market, stronger economy, buzzing, a mix of old world feel but also modern buildings. London is kind of like a much, much older and, IMO, prettier version of New York.
London is more expensive though, but is not as expensive as people make out.
Well that's my opinion anyway, Florence is stunning but London is just.. London.
Comparing London to Florence is like comparing New York to Sedona.
Americans are a much higher percentage of the population in Florence than in London. I remember going to internet cafes in Florence and literally everyone one in them were American students.
